The Latest Trends for Tying the Knot

Weddings are no longer a simple affair with family and a few close friends. They are now upscale social events that rival those of the celebrities. Young couples are eager to top every other bride and groom when it comes to fashion, food, and making an entrance.

Bridal Fashions

It wasn't that long ago that every bride wanted the biggest dress with plenty of ruffles and bows. They would then dress all of their best friends in brightly colored gowns that they felt uncomfortable in, were embarrassed of, and would never wear again in their lives. The modern bride looks for elegance rather than volume. Today's gowns for both brides and their attendants are stylish, sleek dresses that truly can be worn to other formal affairs. Softer colors are becoming more popular, and the bows and hoop skirts are being replaced with beautiful laces and beading.

Food

The average bride would be horrified at the thought of allowing their relatives to bring a potluck style supper to their wedding reception. With so many foodies out there, weddings have become the perfect place to try upscale dishes you may not normally have. Brides are opting for several courses served during a sit down dinner rather than a buffet. This is good news for catering companies. They are seeing much more profit from these high-end affairs, and each reception gives them an opportunity to show case their culinary skills.

The Grand Entrance

The church doors opening for the bride and her father are slowly becoming replaced as the big entrance of the day. Everyone now wants to see how the young woman chooses to arrive at the venue. Their choice is then waiting outside of the building for the newlyweds. Couples are using everything from horse drawn carriages to vintage cars to whisk them away after the ceremony. Renting a bus or car from a local limo company is also a favorite transportation option on the big day. It's all about making a statement.

These modern upscale weddings are both extravagant and fun. Although these events are much more expensive than the smaller gatherings of years past, they do allow the young couple and their guests to enjoy an evening of opulence that they may not normally encounter. Everything from the wedding gown to the dessert is unforgettable for all who attend.
